John Romney's "Bernadotte Crown Prince of Sweden" (Allied Commander of the Napoleonic War) is an original hand-coloured etching printed on early nineteenth century wove paper and bears Richard Evans's address and publication date.
This early equestrian etching of the allied commander Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte is a unique and important example of military history of its allied commanders from the Napoleonic Wars. Bernadotte remained the King of Sweden until his death in Stockholm in 1844. He played a key role in several allied victories, including the battle of Leipzig.
