J Romney - Etching of Crown Prince of Sweden 1816.

This hand coloured etching of Bernadotte, Crown Prince of Sweeden (sic) was engraved by John Romney. Published by Richard Evans 1816.

The print is from An Historical Account of the Battle of Waterloo by William Mudford.

John Romney's "Bernadotte Crown Prince of Sweden" (Allied Commander of the Napoleonic War) is an original hand-coloured etching printed on early nineteenth century wove paper and bears Richard Evans's address and publication date.

This early equestrian etching of the allied commander Jean Baptiste Jules Bernadotte is a unique and important example of military history of its allied commanders from the Napoleonic Wars. Bernadotte remained the King of Sweden until his death in Stockholm in 1844. He played a key role in several allied victories, including the battle of Leipzig.

Size: 9in x 11in (23cm x 28cm).
