A Chinese painted pottery cocoon jar, Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD 8), the grey pottery bottle body decorated in coloured pigment with cloud patterns within vertical bands, 26cm high

cf. similar examples described and illustrated in the fine Southeast Asian Ceramic Society book "Spirit of Han".
This is a very good example in "untouched" condition, showing expected signs of wear and age but with no sign of restoration or repair.
