R.M.S. TITANIC - WRECK WOOD: Oak frame measuring approximately 10ins. x 9½ins. made entirely from Titanic driftwood. Recovered from the Titanic wreckage by the crew of the S.S. Minia, the Anglo-American telegraph company cable ship chartered by White Star Line to help recover the bodies of Titanic victims (April 22nd 1912 to May 6th 1912).
Remarkably unusual and possibly unique for an artefact of this nature, is that the origin of the frame is supported by first generation provenance in the form of a vintage handwritten letter signed by Minia crewman Bertram T. King attesting to the origin of the wood and the construction of the frame. King apparently framed his letter for safe keeping as it is still contained within it and accompanies the lot. Ex-Adams - Santini collection.
