AN EDWARDIAN ARTS AND CRAFTS SILVER THREE PIECE TEA SERVICE, by A E Jones, Birmingham 1910 (sugar) and 1911, of planished globular form chased with faux studs over a band of stylised cherries, raised upon a low pedestal with applied rope twist rim, comprising teapot with hinged conical cover with turned horn knop (probably a replacement) and composition handle, 8 1/2" wide, milk jug and two handled sugar basin, 22ozs 2dwts total gross (Illustrated) (Est. plus 24% premium inc. VAT)
The knop is likely to be a replacement as it differs to the handle in composition and is glued in to place, the silver just in front of the knop towards the spout is slightly dented and the knop has probably fallen off when dropped. The hinge is very slightly sprained as there is a very small gap when the lid is closed. Clear marks except teapot maker's mark which is mis-struck. No engraving. Very light gauge. Teapot stamped 595 to base. The teapot handle does not fit well although very secure.
