An Arts & Crafts period Gothic Revival oak ecclesiastical lecturn, carved as an eagle, architectural pedestal, the reading slope carved To the glory of God and in memory of Francis Owston: Vicar of this parish from 1851 to 1888, 152.5cm high, c.1910

Rev. Francis Owston (1819-1908) received his MA degree from Cambridge during 1850, married Eliza Stedman (daughter of Dr. James Stedman and Sarah Remington) 16 Apr 1850 in St. Nicholas Church, Guildford, Surrey, England. Francis Owston was the Vicar at Pirbright, Surrey for 37 years.
