WW1 Baden enlisted man's ersatz felt pickelhaube, with helmet plate and spike and base, rosettes and chinstrap missing, leather lining with wear, several holes where plated has been fitted, otherwise skull is clean and in good condition. This was brought back from WW1 by C.S.M. Dewson, South Staffs Regt whose DCM group is for sale at Lot 35, it’s the family’s understanding that the wearer of the helmet was killed by CSM Dewson who was awarded a DCM for his conduct.
