Estimate

£3,000 - £5,000

Fees

Two Spitfire propeller blades, both of which came from the same Mk1 Spitfire and were manufactured in compressed laminated Birchwood which then was coated with a very thin black outer coating and riveted and both date to late 1940 or early 1941

Please note - these 2 propellers were (legally) removed from a Spitfire which had been used as a training plane and which the inexperienced pilot (like many did) struggled with the Spitfire and "tipped" it into the grass during landing, destroying the 3rd propeller.

Furthermore the vendor was, for many years a verified bulk excess parts dealer with the MOD specifically ex-RAF engine and propeller and other plane parts and has had these 2 propellers in his own ownership virtually ever since they were removed from the Spitfire and has had them verified by other RAF Spitfire experts who have independently confirmed that they are from a Mark 1 type Spitfire.

More Information

The blades have been trimmed down and are now only decretive items, not fit as parts.
