A fine and interesting pewter wrigglework decorated beaker, Dutch, circa 1700-10

Of typical tall, flared, form, maker’s mark of ‘PP’ above a seeded rose to base, and decorated in three banded reserves depicting the Life of Christ - The Annunciation; birth at Bethlehem; visit of the Three Kings; Flight into Egypt; Judas receiving thirty pieces of silver and betraying Christ with a kiss; the denial of Peter, Judas hanging himself; the Passion of Christ; women at the tomb; the Resurrection, 

Provenance: Former Boonshaft Collection, sold Sotheby’s, 16 June 1998, Lot 378

See the Victoria & Albert Museum Collection, London, acc. no. M.147-1930, for a beaker by the same maker and with near identical decoration, very possibly by the same hand.  See also V&A acc. no. M.15-1913 for a beaker again by the same maker, but with the more typical decoration of William & Mary portraits
