Hid MID was announced in the London Gazette dated 14th November 1944, for action during the landing of Allied Forces on the coast of Normandy. with qty of research including typed extract from Naval Operations, HMS Largs Admiral Talbot "strongly recommends Sick Birth Attendant Rimmer for his 30 hours' unremitting toil and good work with the wounded." HMS Largs was the Combined Operations HQ Ship and Flagship of Force S controlling the Sword Beach landings and narrowly avoided being torpedoed by E-Boats at 5.30 on the morning of the invasion.
