John Lawley, Rudgley a mahogany moon-phase longcase clock the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell with the thirteen-inch brass break-arch dial having a raised chapter ring with black Roman numerals, blued-steel hands, the four corners painted with cast-brass female-head spandrels, the matted dial centre having a subsidiary seconds dial and brass date hand showing to the inner aspect, the arch painted with a moonphase and engraved to the arch with the makers name John Lawley, Rudgley, the mahogany case with fluted quartered columns to the trunk, canted corners to the base, fluted pillars to the hood and a swan-neck pediment, height 240cm. Notes: John Lawley is recorded as from a known family of clockmakers working in Rudgley (Rugeley), Staffordshire from pre-1776.
