Late 19th century singing bird automaton, the bird on a perch with foliage within a wire cage and on a gilt pedestal with floral garlands, 17cms and 14 cms w, by repute brought back from the Paris Great Exhibition by the vendor's great grandfather, 25/26 cms high , the perch measures approx 9cms
The mechanism works, to turn the key and the small lever to turn off and on. The birds sings/tweets away happily. His head moves, his beak does not. Have attached images but hard to photograph . The bird needs attention, very dusty and only the tinyiest bit of colour red on one side of his head.
