A rare .450" Soper's Patent hinged breech single shot military style rifle, 51" overall, barrel 33½" with military pattern rearsight, London proofs, marked "W.Soper. Rifle & Gun Maker. Reading.England", and on the left side "WS" monogram and "W.Soper's Patent", numbered "674", the hinged breech numbered "597" and opened by a lever on the right side which also cocks the hammer, plain walnut fullstock with steel mounts including two barrel bands, and sling swivels.
