Guy Fawkes figurine bearing the signature Charles Noke Sc and the painted words Potted by Doulton & Co and also the Doulton stamp. In an unusual colour way with the cloak of deep reds and chocolate browns. The glaze hints at flambe work, and notably lacks an HN number (HN numbers were introduced in 1913). The company became Royal Doulton in 1901, and the backstamp is that of Royal Doulton. However the hand painted Potted by Doulton & Co perhaps indicates that the piece was made at the point of transition. At 27cm in height it is slightly taller than the HN28 figure, with its bright scarlet cloak, produced from 1918. An intriguing collector's piece.
