** MAIL SHOT DOWN BY THE JAPANESE & DETAINED IN HONG KONG; 14 Nov. 1939 censored airmail env. to Bombay franked Japan 50s, 30s & 5s tied by two other Japanese cds with two strikers of the framed "PASIND 5" h.s. on front or rear and with "VICTORIA/HONG KONG" (30.11.1939) and "BOMBAY" (12.12.1939) cds on rear. Mail deliberately detained as a result of the Imperial Airlines Dardanus shot down by Japanese fighter planes and forced to land on Weichow Is. Remarkable example of detained WWII mail.
