A William IV novelty silver fox head snuffbox, George Tye, probably by Nathanial Mills, circa 1830, realistically chased decoration with end hinged lid bearing initials, with gilt interior, 8cm, 1.7oz. A fox mask snuffbox of 1830 by Mills of the exact same form is illustrated on the front cover of Crisp Jones, K., (1981), The Silversmiths of Birmingham and Their Marks: 1750 - 1980

No damage or repair, light wear to high points and a few very minor edge indents, lid has engraved initials, hallmarks slightly rubbed
