British WWI Royal Army Medical Corps Diary from Capt. Rudolph Albert Peters who was awarded an MC with Bar for his service treating the wounded at a casualty clearing station 1916. He was attached as Medical Officer to the 1st Battalion 8 King's Royal Rifle Corps and was awarded the bar during the action of the storming up to 'Devil Wood' during the Battle of the Somme in which they sustained heavy losses due to shell fire. The diary is an interesting read and he makes many observations and critics', he also lists the stretcher bearers in the Regiment and notes that there wasn't enough clean water reaching the front.
