France. 1909 Navigation Aerienne medal / plaque by Pierre-Alexandre Morlon struck by the Paris Mint. OBV central panel of the Spirit of Aviation flanked by an airplane and zeppelin above text "Navigation Aerienne" / REV three panel reverse, central panel is blank. Left panel depicts and engineer at work above amongst nature, the right a machinist tuning an engine above text "Le reve concoit, la science realise" (the dream conceives, the science realises). Struck bronze to side with corucopia mark. 100x73mm.
