A Burgess & Leigh Indian Empire scenes teapot and stand, of aesthetic form, printed in colours with elephant riders, figures and hunting dogs, 19cm high, printed mark, shape no.281720 The design of this teapot was registered in 1896, but subsequently Huntley & Palmer who claimed that it was a copy of their biscuit-tin design took Burgess o court. As a result he teapot was prematurely discontinued and replaced with a monochrome version
