A fine sentimental Georgian gold and hairwork bracelet, 1820s, the oval clasp centring on a glazed compartment containing a sheaf of hairwork on a shell background, within a border of gold fleur-de-lis motifs spaced by smaller compartments containing locks of hair, the reverse inscribed with initials of the family members, to a gold mesh link bracelet, length 17cm, gross weight 59 grams
Accompanied by two notes detailing the provenance of the piece and the family members to whom the initials belong, including Sir John Sherbrooke (1764-1830), Governer General of British North America. The bracelet was made by the family for Mary Pyndar, wife of Rev. Reginal Pyndar (died circa 1831), a relation of the Lygon family, owners of Madresfield Court, and the rector of Madresfield church, later of Upper Hall, Ledbury, Herefordshire.
