George Bussey & Co., London, croquet set, comprising four named mallets, thirteen worn coloured wooden balls, nine original metal hoops, one later steel hoop, makeshift peg, and eight Jaques mallets, all contained within a labelled pine box with carrying handles, width 106cm, depth 26cm
Some of the mallets are split at the heads and have losses, particularly to the Bussey mallets. Some warping evident to some. The balls have all but lost their colours and some have splits and at least one has a chip. The hoops are rusty and with considerable paint loss. Condition is consistent with age and general neglect. The carrying case has knocks and scrapes but retains its latches and carrying handles.
