WW2 1939-1945, Africa, Burma, Italy, France and Germany Stars, BWM and QEII Royal Navy LSGC to K.929332 J. Trelease P.O.M.(E) H.M.S. Decoy, (WW2 un-named as issued) official correction to Decoy on LSGC, very fine and better, swing mounted as worn. John Trelease was a stoker and survived the sinking of the heavy cruiser HMS Dorsetshire on 5th April 1942, which along with her sister ship HMS Cornwall were attacked and sunk by Japanese carrier dive bombers in the Indian Ocean.
Sold with good quantity of original documents and photos etc, including his parchment Certificate of Service. He was born in Illogan 19/10/22, attested 24/3/41, joined Dorsetshire 15/8/41, Valiant 6/4/42, Malaya 15/10/43 to May 1945, after WW2 served in wide range of ships including Ark Royal with last ship being Decoy, LSGC awarded 3/8/62, discharged from R.N.H. Plymouth 19/3/64 being physically unfit for naval service. Photos of a Dorsetshire & Cornwall re-union and warships taken from deck of Ark Royal. With Interim Certificate of Discharge, History Sheet for Stoker Ratings, Boiler Room Watchkeeping Certificate, Certificate of Engineering Experience, Certificate of crossing the equator and the Arctic Circle, various ledger pay sheets, 1944 Xmas Card, Dorsetshire re-union card etc. With a 1979 letter stating that the Royal Navy would be pleased to scatter his ashes at sea from a RN ship.
