A multi-signed 1946 edition hardback of 'Detour: The Story Of Oflag IVC' a firsthand account of life inside the notorious Colditz Castle POW camp during World War II. Written by J.E.R. Wood and illustrated by J.F. Watton, this book captures the trials, ingenuity, and resilience of Allied prisoners in one of the most heavily guarded camps.
What makes this copy particularly special is its collection of signatures and written messages from fifteen distinguished former POWs, including Pat Reid, Solly Goldman, Jack Best, Rupert Barry, Dick Howe, Coran Purdon, Michael Burn, John Watton (Illustrator of the Detour book), Lieut. J E R Wood (Author), Hauptmann Reinhold Eggers (Colditz Security Officer), Jimmy Yule, and Kenneth Lockwood. There are three that have not been identified but will almost certainly be fellow former Colditz POWs.
