With photo on horseback at Bethlehem and typed 59 page document titled Palestine Memories 1908-22 by recipient. He first visited Palestine when stationed in Crete in 1908. On the outbreak of WW1 he was serving in Khartoum. 3 months after arriving in Salonika he was posted to Egypt and joined the Camel Transport Corps on the Canal. While serving as Staff Officer at GHQ E.E.F. he was ordered to take over as Military Governor of Bethlehem. In 1918 he moved north behind the advance to Haifa and then to administrate Safed. He stayed in Palestine until 1922. While the Memories are mostly to do with his role in administration of Palestine and sight seeing, it is very interesting and rare account from a remote area of WW1. (½B)
