UNRECORDED EDINBURGH "Above authorized weight": 20 July 1840 piece ex Edinburgh (no address) with fine red "Above authorized weight" hs (applied to MPs mail if overweight), and charged ms "4" postage due (on back). This is a rare hs occasionally found in black (rarity K) but previously unrecorded in red by Chadwick. Known only from Edinburgh. (Page 94 of Chadwick, Auckland cat.
