Two large Persian fritware polychrome portrait tiles, Qajar dynasty, 19th century, moulded in relief and painted in colours with a seated ruler and a kneeling subject, within star-shaped cartouches on a blue ground moulded with scrolling foliage, each approximately 51.5cm x 35cm, some faults
The tile depicting a seated ruler has shrinkage and crackle to the glaze on 3/4 of the tile, with some glaze losses and chips around the edges (please see photos). The tile with a kneeling subject has crackle to the glaze all over, some glaze losses, splinter chips around the edge and three firing cracks on the left side of the tile, otherwise in reasonable condition.
