1st (Winchester) VB Hampshire Regiment Victorian Helmet. A good example of an Other rank’s issue pre 1901 Home Service Pattern blue cloth helmet. The helmet is complete with silvered metal cross piece, spike and rose boss supporting a leather backed chin chain. To the front, a silvered Victorian helmet plate, to the centre the regimental device within a strap Hampshire 1st Volr Battn. Leather sweatband to interior. Overall condition is good, wear to the edging and one rose boss absent. Only one helmet plate appears to have been worn.
