£100
A large c 1890’s folding fan, the monture a mix of bone to the guards and pierced metal to the gorge, the dark cream silk leaf embroidered in silks with a large spray of winter leaves, the spines formed with silver wire and the outer leaves with silver thread, the verso plain, guard approx. 33 cm; together with a white Mother of Pearl fan mounted with mid-green silk, showing two ladies indulging in leisure pursuits, one sewing, one reading, their faces painted, their costume applied in Brussels Bobbin lace, guard approx. 27cm (2)
The first fan leaf has one of two short splits to folds on the verso, and the top border is partially lacking. The MOP fan is complete but the gorge sticks are loose, resulting in crumpling to the silk and some minor damage to the silk. A few marks on the silk to the recto.
