£500
A 19th century Irish yew wood, oyster veneered and burr wood serpentine collector's cabinet, with a pair of shell inlaid panelled doors enclosing two banks of ten drawers, all with later baize lining, on spiral turned column supports with understage and pad feet, W.118cm D.57cm H.128cm
Overall of a light golden tone with a fair eveness of colour, perhaps a little faded lower down, the top veneered in hexagons of yew or laburnum wood, the sides with matching but larger hexagons, a little scuffing where the right drawer catches at the bottom, lock is a later replacement and no key present, inner drawers are made up from assorted timbers suggesting that this may well be a later adaptation.
