A VIENNA PORCELAIN LARGE PLAQUE, late 19th century, of circular form, centrally painted in polychrome enamels by Wagner with "Dolce far Niente" (Sweet Idleness), a group of six scantily draped ladies beside a pool, the oblong painting within a claret, turquoise and ecru border with gilded highlights, signed, marked and inscribed on reverse, 19 1/2" diameter, in a gilt frame, 22 1/2" diameter (Illustrated) (Est. plus 24% premium inc. VAT)
No chips, cracks or restoration. Backboard back taken off for cataloguing. There is a series of six "dents" to the porcelain, painted and fired in the middle through hanging gilt tassel, and above Cupid's head, some gilding worn. Sold in 29.11.23 sale but sale rescinded as client didn't agree with condition report, the 'dents' were too noticable for him.
