Michael Collins (1890-1922) Military Dispatch Believed to be his Last Written Words before his assination at Béal na mBláth, August 22nd, 1922.
Irish Revolutionary Commander in-Chief, Soldier, Politician and Leading Figure in the Early 20th Century Struggle for Irish Independence. Provenance: From the Library of the Late Donal Morain, Former Chief Executive of Gael Linn. Given to him by his Uncle, Finian Lynch, Associate of Michael Collins and Later Minister for Education in the First Dail (January - August 1922). Lynch, an Officer in the Dublin Brigade, was Imprisoned after Action in the GPO during Easter Week, 1916. Later, with Austin Stack and Thomas Ashe, he led the Mountjoy Hunger Strike Starting May 1917. He was also Assistant Secretary during the Treaty Negotiations of 1922. Lynch was Collins' Escort at a Prescribed Meeting in Killarney, April 1922. Ambushed at Roberts Glen, en route to Reinforce Tom O'Connor under Pressure from Kerry Number 2 Brigade August 1922.
