A Japanese chestnut-form hako or box and cover, signed Noriyuki 則之, Edo, 18th C.

Dim.: 5 x 4,5 x 3,2 cm


Hako in the form of a chestnut made of akagane (red copper) with a fully sculpted leafy branch in sentoku (bronze alloy). On the underside, a spider crafted in shakudo-takabori (high-relief carving on a shakudo alloy). Features fine details in ishime (stone-like texture). The interior is gilded. Signed: Noriyuki.
