Victorian silver pair cased verge pocket watch, by Willson, Lincoln, hallmarked Birmingham 1855, outer polished case enclosing a gilt floral chased centre dial, with enamelled chapter ring, the outer bezel inscribed 'Keep me clean and use me well and I to you the truth will tell', signed back plate, 57mm diameter; also another silver pair cased verge pocket watch, by Thomas Snow, Knaresborough, hallmarked Birmingham 1839, the white enamelled dial with painted centre titled 'Speed the Plough', signed back plate, 56mm diameter (2)

More Information

Willson: Outer case is good overall with some wear and light scratches consistent with age and use. The inner case has some rubbing around the outside edge and pitting on the back. Knife scrapes around the openings. The dial is good. Watch currently ticks when wound.
Snow: The outer case is good with slight wear consistent with age and use. Inner case has some rubbing and minor dents around the edge. The back is engraved with initials, and has scratches and minor dents. The dial has a hair crack between 4 and 5 o'clock leading to a chip against the central spigot and continuing to 11 o'clock. The hands are replaced. Watch currently ticks when wound.
