“Through my exploration of my preferred mediums I’m able to create humble yet striking works of art that are insightful of love for social and economic politics that has inherited in South African society, it is very difficult for us black artists to diverse ourselves completely from the experience’s we lived, furthermore highlighting my experiences of my homeland and the city as visual detailed in my journal, experiencing of life in both worlds with every scene that captures my interest. I’m able to create characters with visions that has occasionally been inspired by African art legends such as George Pemba, Ephraim Ngatane, Jo Maseko and traditional mythology. My watercolours and charcoal drawings are pictorial visions that has occasionally also been inspired my feel that you can identify with the characters portrayed and that you’ll like to know them better. Many of my compositional works include numbers of individuals busy with different or coordinated activates from daily life, my work is generally conservative and tends towards formal and at times even academic qualities, an implication of form and colour and a gradual shift from purely naturalistic depiction to a limited expressionism.” – Stephen Langa
