A brass barrelled flintlock blunderbuss with spring bayonet, c 1800, 29½” overall, swamped barrel 13½” with London proofs stamped over Tower private proofs, engraved “London”, and with 12” spring bayonet released by thumb catch on the breech tang; plain stepped lock with safety bolt and roller on frizzen spring, the plate signed “Blanch”; walnut fullstock with early style chequered wrist, the brass mounts include floral engraved trigger guard with pineapple finial. GWO&C, dark patina to lock and bayonet (plain wood ramrod and front ramrod pipe replaced) Plate 9 and front cover.
