George Cole (!810-1883) Thirlmere 1878 Charming oil on canvas, relined. A farmer and his dog takes his sheep to water amidst the mountains of Thirlmere. In the centre distance a fisherman hangs his nets from the bridge and to the right a mansion house nestles in the landscape. Signed in red to lower right. Cole - (15 January 1810 – 7 September 1883) was an English painter known for his landscapes and animal paintings. Frame size 41.5” long by 29.5” high
