Pontefract Castle is from the book The Society of Antiquaries of London has taken care to publish, at its own expense, the ancient records which preserve the memory of British affairs. Originally in Latin - Vetusta monumenta, quae ad rerum Britannicarum memoriam conservandam Societas Antiquariorum Londini sumptu suo edenda curavit.

The Society of Antiquaries of London commissioned George Vertue to engrave the original drawing of Pontefract Castle, made in 1561, in a meeting that took place in 1732. Pontefract Castle had been demolished in 1648.

Size: 9.3in x 7.25in (23.6cm x 18.4cm).

The print is in very good condition - please inspect the image carefully for any occasional age related marks.
