A FINE UNOFFICIAL TOMPION CREST FOR H.M. BATTLESHIP ROYAL OAK, 1914
cast in brass with polychrome field and highlights, mounted on a moulded wooden display board, the crest -- 7in. (17.8cm.) diameter
A 'Revenge' Class battleship of some 30,000 tons built at Devonport and which served at Jutland, was ignominiously sunk by U-47 (Günther Prien) whilst at anchor in Scapa Flow on 14th October 1939 with the loss of 835 souls. Her wreck, upside down in 30m of water is a designated war grave.
