Thomas Best, Lewes, an oak longcase clock the thirty-hour birdcage movement striking the hours on a bell (missing) with an outside countwheel, with the ten-inch square brass dial having a raised chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, fleur-de-lys half-hour markings and signed Thos. Best, Lewes, the oak flat-top case with applied three-quarter columns the hood, height 200cm. Notes: Thomas Best is known working in Lewes, East Sussex in 1743 when he took Henry Alce as an apprentice.
