Great Britain: Liverpool and Manchester Railway Company, £25 share, 1829, #7138, black printing, on vellum, pink seal. Incorporated on 5th May 1826. A line designed to shorten transportation times between the cities. It was opened in 1830, and the journey by steam locomotive took 2 hours 54 minutes rather than the 36 hours it had taken by canal. The line became successful for passenger traffic as a result. It was absorbed by the Grand Junction Railway in 1845 and later formed part of the London and North Western Railway. Near EF and rare early date.
