A VICTORIAN SILVER AND TORTOISESHELL JEWELLERY CASKET

by Thomas Hayes, Birmingham 1899, rectangular with rounded sides, the hinged cover inset with a tortoiseshell panel silver inlaid with birds flying amidst flowering foliage, chased to all four sides with Classical figures. 11.3cm by 8cm, 6.5 troy ounces gross



The marks are clear. The trellis on the lid has a small loss of silver, and the front left corner of the base is slightly misshapen. The cover opens and closes tightly.
