A Francois Pycke (French / Belgian b. 1890 - d.1960) limited edition (33/50) plate etching capturing a serious card playing scene. Titled 'Joueurs aux Cartes' and signed F.Pycke bottom right. Set in a simple wooden frame, this piece resonates with a nostalgic charm.
François Pycke (French) was a Belgian artist who was born in 1890 in Ghent and who died in 1960 also in Ghent. He was a painter as well as an etcher and sculptor. Training at the Academy in Ghent under the direction of Jean Delvin he won the Godecharle Prize in 1914. Pycke realised portraits, figures, nudes, landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes, outdoor scenes and loved dramatic lighting effects.
