A scarce post 1902 khaki Lancer style plastron fronted tunic of the Sussex Yeomanry, blue plastron, facing and piping, gilt Sussex Yeomanry collar badges, GS buttons, plaited blue cord shoulder straps with bullion crowns, label at back of collar marked "Hobson & Sons 1.1. and 5 Lexington St, London W", named to Major Hon. C. Brand, complete with blue and yellow striped girdle with brass olivets. VGC Note:Major the Hon Charles Brand was a son of Viscount Hampden (one time speaker of the House of Commons). He spent approx 15 months in the Hampshire Carabiniers prior to becoming 2nd Lieut in the Sussex Yeomanry when the unit was raised in August 1901, 2 months later being promoted to Major. He commanded B Squadron of the Sussex Yeomanry which covered the Brighton, Lewes and Burgess Hill troops. He died aged 57 in 1912 at his residence near Lewes from Pneumonia. £300-400
