A FASCINATING PROJECT OF BOOK-BINDING: a bookbinding project undertaken when learning (remarkably well) bookbinding by the vendor's husband; it is a binding of Hammond Innes's typescript of his 1978 book, 'The Last Voyage Captain Cook's Lost Diary'. The binder wrote to Hammond Innes and received encouragement, advice about where to source the materials, and then was sent (by Innes himself), the typescript; it was then bound in 'faux-distressed style' using canvas/sailcloth as (apparently) such a diary may have been 'on board' 'at the time' and other materials sourced at the Chatham dockyard with the help of the Navy. All this detailed by the binder and responded to in typed and signed letters from Hammond Innes. It is boxed with gilt titles. Also includes a copy of the 1st ed., of Innes's book, signed and dedicated to the binder; also includes a similar aborted binding project (might make a nice notebook!).
