George Horace Davis (1881-1963), The original artwork used in 'Illusterated London News,' five vignettes showing 'Two Modern Methods of Attack,' of the German Third Reich showing panzer formations, also a cut-away of the latest German Anti-Tank Gun, signed and dated 1942, monochrome watercolour wash and gouache on paper, 61x49cm, recently mounted, framed and acrylic glazed. George Davis was one of the finest exponents of the "cutaway" graphic illustrations of aircraft, ships, tanks and engineering of the 20th century. Davis was a staff artist for the "Graphic" and the "Sphere" & Chief Staff Artist of "The Illustrated London News.
