A FIRST AND SECOND WORLD WAR GROUP OF SIX TO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS AND MEMORIAL PLAQUE. A Great War group of six comprising 1914-15 Star named to 1515 Spr A.L. Bingham R.E. War Medal and Victory Medal to 1515 A 2 Cpl A.L. Bingham R.E. Second World War Defence and War Medals unnamed as issued and a Belgian Croix De Guerre with certificate named to Albert Leslie Bingham 550341 of the 517th London (Field) Co. Royal Engineers. Mounted as worn with accompanying miniatures, paperwork and a silver and enamel fob 'Hammersith Football League' 13-14. And a Memorial Plaque to Henry George Bingham. Albert Leslie Bingham (Bertie) was born in 1894, he is recorded with numbers 1515 and 550341, he entered the conflict in France on the 16th May 1915. The award of the Croix de Guerre was announced in the Gaxette on the 15th April 1918. During the Second War he rose to the rank of Major when released from service in 1947. Henry George Bingham was born in 1891, he also served with the Royal Engineers, he had service number 1516 suggesting he enlisted alongside his brother who had number 1515. He died on the 16th September 1916 and is commemorated at Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval on the Somme. He was 26 years old. Their parents were Henry E. and Emily Bingham of 31 Park Mansions in Battersea park, they had two sons and two daughters.
