Fees

A late 19th to early 20th Century Meissen Cabaret set in the manner of Teniers or Kaufmann, the set comprising oval tray with fluted border and integral handles, coffee pot, covered sucrier, cream jug, two split handled cups and one saucer, all hand painted with Watteauesque scenes of figures in period dress to landscape settings within pink scale ground with floral and gilt highlights, underglaze blue crossed sword mark.

NB - Please note that this set in not entirely of Meissen porcelain; the tray and the coffee pot are by Potschappel Carl Thieme (Dresden).

The pieces that are of Meissen porcelain all carry cancelled crossed swords and in this case mean that they are outside decorated, rather than decorated at the factory.

Essentially the pieces were acquired by an independent decorator as blanks and decorated coherently to look like an original set.

More Information

N.B – Missing one saucer and damages to the interior lugs of the coffee pot lid. There are also some very tiny and minor frits to the rose finial on the coffee pot lid. Otherwise all in good order.
