Isaac Nathan (1791-1864), English composer and musicologist, was the music librarian to King George IV, and is known as the father of Australian music. Pp. 227-230 of the book are devoted to Hebrew music. He also set Byron's well-known 'Hebrew Melodies' to music. This volume includes various musical examples throughout text. Condition: Very good. Light edgewear to the boards, with some light chipping and indentations to small sections of the edges. Small bump to bottom corner of front board. Previous bookseller's label to front pastedown. Very light foxing throughout the text. A well bound copy.
