A vintage hand painted bisque figurine of the Ladies of Llangollen..
The Ladies of Llangollen, regarded by some as Ireland's first openly lesbian couple. Rather than face the possibility of being forced into unwanted marriages, Eleanor Charlotte Butler and Sarah Ponsonby met in 1768, fled County Kilkenny in Ireland in 1778 and settled in Wales where they lived together for the rest of their lives.
Lot also includes a 1971 first edition Penguin book of 'The Ladies of Llangollen'
