1914-15 Star trio and Memorial Plaque to 113321 Cpl R. Baird R.E. (Robert Baird on plaque) good extremely fine, mounted in glass fronted display case with 2 shoulder titles. He died of wounds serving with "E" Special Coy on 30th May 1917 and is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery. With original medal condolence transmittal slips (2), plaque card case and envelope of issue addressed to Mr R.J. Baird, Dunfermline (re-directed to Edinburgh). With copied CWGC, Soldiers Died and War Diary for period 28-31 May 1917. The whole Coy were in the line on 30th May for a large discharge of gas against the German lines. The Germans retaliated with a heavy barrage 10 minutes after the gas was discharged and it was noted this barrage resulted in 2 Coy personnel being gas poisoned, of whom one later died from the poisoning. It is strongly suspected that this person was Cpl Baird. GLASS WILL NOT BE POSTED. (R)
