'Devon Great Consols. Longitudinal Section on the Main Lode,' Kell Brothers Lithographers Showing Wheal Maria, Wheal Fanny, Wheal Anna Maris, wheal Josiah, Wheal Emma and The New Ground, with thirteen shafts and illustrations of the above ground works, scale 40 fathoms to an inch, some tears to margins not affecting the lithograph, rolled, approx 56cm x 166cm, [c.1860]; 'Crowdale. Section Looking South,' copied from tracing in Bedford Estate, 17th August 1956, rolled, approx 51.5cm x 121cm; 'Lady Bertha Mine,' hand drawn survey showing Engine shaft, fatho level, The Duke of Bedford's Land, Section of Rowe's Winze, Scale 8 fathoms to an Inch, some toning to for edge but generally vg, rolled, no date but the paper and font suggest late 19th century, approx 68cm x 101cm; A 19th century hand drawn survey of Collacombe Mine, stamped by the Inspector of Mines 1937 to certify as a True Copy of Plan NoR303c, rolled, 47cm x 85cm; With four copies of plans all done by hand and from the same estate. (8) From the estate of Ron Hooper, M.V.O., A.C.S.M., F.I.M.M. Born in St.Agnes, he graduated from Camborne School of Mines. After a short career mining in the Gold Coast of Ghana he joined the Camborne School of Mines, eventually becoming Senior Lecturer in Surveying. At the same time, he acted as an independent mining engineer and was appointed mineral agent for several Cornish estates including the Duchy of Cornwall, Tregothnan, and the Godolphin Estate (amongst others).
